What is SEO and what does it mean?
SEO is a shortened term for the word Search engine optimization. The term search engine optimization means basically optimizing your websites position in the search engines to gain a higher spot. The theory is that is you have a higher spot in the search engines then you will gain more visitors to your site as your site is closer to the first results meaning the person who is looking for the information sees your site first so meaning that person is more likely to click on your link.
Position in the search engine rankings is not the only thing that search engine optimization is about. Having a good heading that is attractive and enticing helps. If you write a good heading in the title tags of the meta then the search engines will index this and it will appear on the search engine results page or SERPs for short. Remember when writing your web page headings make them interesting and make them so it encourages the person using the search engine to click on your website page which then gives you a credible visitor.
Another thing that search engine optimization is good for is if your website is a local based website for lets say a shop you own in a certain city or it is a charity website based in a certain country then you can use search engine optimization to get visitors from a local area. If you are trying to target a certain country then you can use geo-targeting to do this.
